Everydays: the First 5000 Days is a digital work of art created by Mike Winkelmann, known professionally as Beeple. The work is a collage of 5000 digital images created by Winkelmann for his Everydays series. Its associated non-fungible token (NFT) was sold for $69.3 million at Christie’s in 2021, the most expensive NFT and among the most expensive works by a living artist

Warner Bros., Nifty’s launch first ‘Matrix’ avatar NFTs

Ahead of the December premiere of “The Matrix Resurrections,” Warner Bros.’ consumer products division and social NFT platform Nifty’s are partnering to launch avatar-based non-fungible tokens inspired by the classic film franchise.

Pegged at $50 each and available exclusively on Nifty’s platform, the run of 100,000 “Matrix” NFTs will launch in two stages.

The NBA’s Top Shot product is a blockchain-based trading card system that has generated over $230 Million /  R3.6 Billion in gross sales.

A LeBron James highlight sold for $200,000 / R3.2 Million. A Zion Williamson edition went for a little less than that. The National Basketball Association has officially aligned itself for the future of the trading card marketplace, and currently, this game is sold out.


Dolce & Gabbana Just Set a $6 Million Record for Fashion NFTs

Dolce & Gabbana sold at auction a nine-piece collection of digital NFTs, alongside some actual couture for a total of 1,885.719 Ether (Ethereum cryptocurrency), or the equivalent of nearly $6.1 million / R100 million.

“These prices are not surprising,” said Nick Jushchyshyn, program director for Virtual Reality and Immersive Media at Drexel University. “You have world-renowned designers creating something absolutely unique, with attention to detail — it is beyond what you expect to see in a typical digital rendering — and it’s a one of one. It makes perfect sense that there would be an NFT collector in the world who would value it.”


Nike Looks Poised to Tackle Metaverse and NFTs

Nike files for 7 ‘virtual goods’ trademarks for branding in NFTs and video games like Fortnite.

Nike’s patent for “cryptokicks” indicates it has been preparing to use NFTs for quite some time.

Matthew Kish, explains in a recent analysis that “Nike is going all in on its metaverse play.” The report discusses Nike’s recent U.S. Patent and Trademark Office filing published this week. A number of well-known trademarks Nike owns were also included such as the “Just Do It” tagline, its SNKRS logo, the Air Jordan “Jumpman,” and the Nike swoosh. All of which can be leveraged as “downloadable virtual goods, namely, computer programs featuring footwear, clothing, headwear, eyewear, bags, sports bags, backpacks, sports equipment, art, toys, and accessories for use online and in online virtual worlds.”


Budweiser’s first-ever NFTs sell out in minutes

Budweiser has become the first Anheuser-Busch InBev brand to enter the non-fungible token business with its new “Heritage Collection,” comprised of 1,936 one-of-a-kind digital beer cans that were retailing for hundreds of dollars each. With two different types of blockchain-based tokens—1,900 “Core Heritage Cans,” priced at $499 / R8100 each, and a much more limited run of 36 “Gold Heritage Cans,” going for $999 / R16k each—the digital collectibles sold out less than an hour after their release, netting Budweiser somewhere in the neighborhood of $984,000 / R16 Million.

Virtual real estate fetches record $2.4 million / R39 million deal in Decentraland’s fashion district

A plot of virtual real estate on Decentraland’s Fashion Street just sold for a record $2.4 million. Tokens.com, a publicly traded company based in Toronto, was the buyer of what it described as a 116 parcel of land in “the heart” of Fashion Street.

Players in Decentraland use a cryptocurrency called MANA, which is based on Ethereum. Tokens.com’s purchase was a record real estate transaction for the virtual world, at 618,000 MANA, which converts to $2.4 million / R39 million. The previous record was set in June when a buyer bought 259 parcels of land for 1.3 million MANA, which amounted to about $900,000 / R14.6 million at the time.


NFL Enters the NFT World

NFL fans can now receive complementary virtual commemorative tickets as an NFT. The limited-edition NFTs, done in collaboration with Ticketmaster, will be for those who attend select games from Thanksgiving through the end of the 2021 season.

CryptPunks

CryptoPunks was released in June of 2017 as one of the first non-fungible tokens (NFT) on the Ethereum blockchain. CryptoPunks are commonly credited with starting the NFT craze of 2021, along with other early projects including MoonCatRescue, CryptoKitties, and more recently, Bored Ape Yacht Club and the sale of Beeple’s Everydays: The First 5000 Days.

There are 10,000 CryptoPunk tokens. Today, due to their rarity and exclusivity, they are often used as a status symbol in cryptocurrency communities, as well as fetching higher prices on the open market and making their way to auction houses like Christie’s. In February CryptoPunk 6487 sold for 550 ETH ($1.05 million / R15.7 million).

August 11, Bored Ape Yacht Club #3749 was sold for 400 ETH ($1.8 million / R27.4 m) on OpenSeas. August 8, Bored Ape 7345 was sold for 210 ETH ($893k /R13.6 million).

The current floor price (lowest you should pay for a BAYC NFT) is 44.89 ETH ( $186k/R3 million)

On August 23, 2021, Bored Ape #1734 sold for 420 ETH ($1.8m/R27.5 million).

On August 28, Stephen Curry bought a BAYC NFT 7990 with a blue-fur ape wearing a brown tweed suit with greenzombie eyes for 55 ETH ($234,000/R3.6 million).

On September 2, a #BAYC 7090 ape with solid gold fur was sold for 600 ETH ($2.5 million/R38.1 million) On September 6, 2021, The Sandbox bought the BAYC #3749 “The Captain” for 740 ETH ($3million/R45.7 million).

In September 2021, BAYC #8746 sold for $1.2 million/R18.3 million as a part of Christie’s Hong Kong auction house NFT drop.
